RELATED: World Of Warcraft: Love Is In The Air Event Guide
Showcase your skills in mini games and win exotic prises such as mounts and pets. As of the Shadowlands expansion, you can now bust some moves and take part in the more recent dance game. Head on down to the fairground to see what it's all about.
When Can You Visit The Darkmoon Faire?
The Darkmoon Faire comes to town on the first Sunday of every month, lasting until the next Saturday. You’ll have a week's worth of content to jump into and plenty of rewards and goodies to collect.
How To Get To The Darkmoon Faire
To get to the Darkmoon Faire, you can find the Darkmoon Faire Mystic Mages in all of the main Alliance and Horde cities. Talk to them and they will offer to teleport you to the Darkmoon Faire staging area for a small price. These prices differ depending on your level, scaling up to a maximum of 50 silver. They also offer a one time quest. Hand this in to Gelvas Grimegate, a male goblin vendor, close to the firework stand. You’ll receive the Darkmoon Adventurer’s Guide and five Darkmoon Prize Tickets.

Alternatively, you can look on your map to find the Darkmoon Faire Icons. There are only two, and they can be found in Elwynn Forest (for the Alliance) and Mulgore (for the Horde).
Travel to one of these areas, and you’ll find the
Darkmoon Staging area. Here, you can
click on a portal that will take you to
Darkmoon Island.
Getting Your Darkmoon Game Tokens
When you arrive on Darkmoon Island, follow the arrows down the hill to the fairground. At the entrance, you’ll find a female goblin named Zina Sharpworth. She sells the Darkmoon Game Tokens. You’ll need these if you want to play the mini-games and complete daily quests for Darkmoon Prize Tickets. This vendor sells a Pouch o’ Tokens which contains five game tokens for 85 silver, and a Sack o’ Tokens for two gold and 72 silver which contains 20 game tokens. If you run out of game tokens, simply head back to her to purchase more.
Benefits Of The Darkmoon Adventurer’s Guide
Just as you enter the Darkmoon Faire, you can find Selina Dourman, an undead female, to your left. She can tell you about the Darkmoon Faire, such as what you can purchase, where certain mini-games are, and more. If you’re struggling to find a particular mini-game, she will mark it on your map for you. She can also offer you the Darkmoon Adventurer’s Guide. This item, when kept in your bag, allows you to loot items that begin quests. You can loot these items in dungeons, raids, and battlegrounds.
If you are levelling a new character via dungeon runs or battlegrounds, check if the Darkmoon Faire is on and grab the Darkmoon Adventurer’s Guide. You’ll be able to loot plenty of items, as will people in your group. If you don’t intend to use these items, you can sell them on the Auction House.
You will get 200 experience and 250 Darkmoon Faire reputation for completing the quests. Here are the items you can loot and the ticket rewards for completing the quests:

If you aren’t a fan of roller coasters, there’s also the Darkmoon Carousel. Each ride costs a Darkmoon Ride Ticket. These can be bought by Kae Ti, a Pandaren found at the carousel enterance, or Mae Ti, another Pandaren found at the roller coaster platform. You can buy the Ride Ticket Book for 85 Silver, which will grant you five Darkmoon Ride Tickets.
Each ride gives you the buff WHEE! which increases experience and reputation gains by 10 percent for an hour.

Darkmoon Cards
Darkmoon Cards are items that you can collect and compile into a Deck. These cards can drop from random creatures in the open world and dungeons. New cards are released with each new expansion. So, if you collect all eight of one suit you can turn them into a Deck. Decks can be turned in for reward items and reputation. Higher-Level Decks can reward you with an epic trinket. You can turn Decks in to Professor Thaddeus Paleo. He can be found at the Darkmoon Faire, opposite the carousel.
The Darkmoon Rabbit And Moonfang Boss Fights
Moonfang
Deep within the dark woods of Darkmoon Island, northwest of the fairground, you can come across a wolf known as Moonfang. This den mother can be defeated for a variety of items. She is mainly targeted for the Moon Moon battle pet, her wolf pup. She also drops Moonfang’s Pelt, an item that begins the quest Den Mother’s Demise. Turning this in will reward you with ten Darkmoon Prize Tickets. Moonfang Shroud is a toy which allows you to drape her pelt over your head. Moonfang’s Paw is a toy that transforms you into an aspect of Moonfang for ten minutes. Lastly, the Shimmering Moonstone item gives you a temporary Moonfang mount. Once the Darkmoon Faire ends, this item will disappear from your bags.
The Darkmoon Rabbit
On the east side of Darkmoon Island you can find a cave. Inside the cave spawns the Darkmoon Rabbit. If you kill this creature, you have a chance of it dropping the Darkmoon Rabbit battle pet. Killing this elite creature will also reward you with the achievement, That Rabbit's Dynamite.
The Darkmoon Rabbit has a long spawn time, some players have reported to have waited over 32 hours.
The Blight Boar And Elite Tauren Chieftain Concerts
Elite Tauren Chieftain originally began as an actual band formed by Blizzard employees. They’ve been immortalised in-game with a band that performs during the Darkmoon Faire. You can see them play near the dock, on the south coast of Darkmoon Island. There are no rewards linked with this activity, it’s just something fun to do with friends, especially if you enjoy role playing in WoW. Grab a friend, an Iced Berry Slush, a Forest Strider Drumstick, and simply enjoy the music and atmosphere.
The Blight Boar Concert
To the east of the fairground you can follow a path towards a cave with lots of undead NPCs. This area is known as the Cauldron of Rock, where a heavy metal band will perform a concert every hour at half past. The Blight Boar will begin their performance and a Death Metal Knight will spawn. The purpose of this event / mini-game is to earn fan points. You do this by protecting the band. Fight the Death Metal Knight and his Ghouls to earn points. You’ll also need to dodge the rows of banshees which will appear from several directions. They will lower your score if they hit you. Your score will be indicated by a buff in the following order:
- Casual Fan
- Serious Fan
- Hardcore Fan
- Number One Fan.
Just before the knight dies, he will spawn an Army of the Dead. Damage the Ghouls to knock them back and protect the lead singer, Devlynn Styx. If you manage to keep them from doing any damage, you’ll complete the achievement Mosh Pit.
The Death Metal Knight has a chance to drop the following items:
- A cage helm (available for all armour types)
- Blight Boar Microphone toy
- Necromedes, the Death Resonator, a two-handed mace.
You can only loot the Death Metal Knight once per character per month.
