Kevin and his team is making it easier and easier to do symbolic regression using the QLattice. In simple terms, symbolic regression is about finding a mathematical model to explain observations. I have seen Feyn/QLattice recover the special theory of relativity and other core natural laws from raw observations. Many published scientific discoveries have been made over the last years using this tool.If you know a bit of Python, give it a spin! As I said, it is getting easier and easier to use with every new release.

I just took Geet Khosla and proemial's scientific V1 for a spin. I must say I found it really convincing and useful for getting a dose of scientific inspiration.Looking forward to following the development. Awesome job!

OpenAI just launched a version of ChatGPT for universities with essentially the same features as ChatGPT enterprise, and presumably at a much lower price. It is clear that OpenAI's strategy is to build and retain market dominance, in this case by "getting them while they are young"I am honestly quite impressed with the excellent execution of this team. Ever since the launch of ChatGPT, which was itself the most awe inspiring new product launch I have ever witnessed, they have made very few mistakes.I think OpenAI is here to stay. Wonder if they will find a way to circumvent their statutes and go public soon?

Two children, born with cleft palate, went from being virtually unable to make themselves understood to speaking normally! Such a transformation is a blessing not all children with this condition receive. The researchers behind this study not only treated the children and changed the course of their lives but also documented every step. Their goal was to ensure that the success of their method could be shared in a scientific article.I have witnessed the process firsthand. It has been eye-opening to see how much work and dedication have been required to complete the research, collect and analyze the data, write the article, and pass through the needle eye of the peer review process. In the end, the work paid off. The article has been accepted and published by the journal "Clinical Linguistics & Phonetics."Here's to Helene Søgaard, Line Dahl Jørgensen, and Elisabeth Willadsen for never giving up on getting this message out. My contribution to the article was in the method, statistical analysis, and in editing the manuscript. Theirs was years of dedication and endurance.Next, one can only hope that the word of the effectiveness of the MOI treatment spreads from scientific circles to practitioners helping real children with similar conditions around the world.

And it is a fact! The EU AI Act has finally been approved by the Council of Ministers. The risk-based approach has largely won out in the world's first AI regulation. And that is a good thing™. I believe that regulation should always serve to mitigate clearly understood and well-defined risks. And this is what we got.Regulation should also focus on reacting to violations -- i.e., legal actions against perpetrators -- rather than red tape and bureaucracy in the implementation, i.e., forcing businesses and individuals to prove a priori that they will not break the law.How the AI Act is implemented will determine that. The GDPR implementation serves as a good example of how *not* to do it.Anyway, the law is here now, and hopefully the *risks* associated with AI is significantly diminished by it.

Last Friday marked my final day as CEO at Abzu. After six incredible years filled with amazing highs and a few tough lows, I’m ready for a break. I'm proud to announce that my co-founder and CTO, Victor Galindo Batanero, will be stepping into the CEO role. Victor has been a steadfast support for me and the team, and I have complete confidence in his leadership for Abzu's future.I’ll still be part of Abzu as a member of our advisory board, ready to assist Victor and the team on this audacious journey in any way I can.A huge thank you to all you Abzoids (our affectionate nickname for ourselves) who have brought Abzu to where it is today. Some of you are still with us, while others have moved on to do great things in other, mostly scientific, endeavors.Together, we’ve achieved so much. From creating a new kind of AI from scratch to advancing knowledge in health science, space travel, energy conservation, and behavioral science, our journey has been nothing short of remarkable. We've received accolades, grants, and the trust of prestigious investors. And what better way to sign off than with Abzu being named a finalist in the Global Startup Awards competition? In the unpredictable world of startups, our achievements are many, and they’re ours to cherish forever.

In an hour I'll be delivering the opening keynote for the 3rd cohort of the GAEIA program in collaboration with the UN High Commissioner for Refugees. I'll be delivering the keynote virtually from out in nature to highlight that today it now possible to make your influence count in the global community, regardless of where you live in the world. This has massive equalizing potential, which I don't think we are appropriately leveraging.I'll talk about obstacles and opportunities, with a particular focus on AI.I'll let you all know how it goes and share a summary of my talk, once it is delivered.

Alright, a quick summary of the news from OpenAI today:- ChatGPT 4 will be available to all users, including free users- The new GPT 4o model integrates speech-to-text, language processing, and text-to-speech in one "single" model, removing most of the latency. This means that you can converse the model much more naturally, interupt it, correct it, etc.- The model can process a live video stream and have a conversation about it. (It did seem to struggle a bit in the live demo)- OpenAI is launching a desktop version of ChatGPT.- And finally, the new model will be available in the API with higher rate limits, and lower cost that GPT 4 today. All in all, a pretty cool update, that will make it even more tempting to continually converse with the model as you work.

In less than one hour (19:00 CET) , OpenAI will live stream product announcements. It won't be GPT-5, and I could be wrong but I have a feeling that this one might be worth watching, just to be able to say you were there😊Direct link to the stream:
